First Mother's Day - Week 38

Jan Fogarty and Henry

I LOVE my mama!
This week brought a very important holiday to the Bogarts. It was Laura's first Mother's Day! Of course, she has previously celebrated the day with her first born, Bella. However, this celebration didn't involve getting love from something that may or may not have just eaten their own poop from the backyard :) Heading into the weekend, Henry had told Reggie that he wanted to get his mama a ring with his birthstone (peridot) in it. So, off Reggie went to Meierotto's to see what he could find. Henry didn't go, so as to not raise suspicion from mom as to why her boys were gone unexpectedly. When Laura woke up on Sunday, Henry actually gave her the card, but for some reason wouldn't give her the jewelry box. Reggie figured it was because she tried to feed him veggies the night before so Henry didn't think she deserved it :) Laura such a wonderful, caring mother, and the boys (and Bella) are extremely lucky to have her in their lives!

After the gifts, we all had to hustle to get to brunch with April, Dave, and Jack Sifford. We all had a great time, and both first-time moms enjoyed the perfect weather! That evening, we grilled out and Laura's friend Jerrod Mitchell came over for dinner. Lots of laughs, and Henry loved Jerrod's glasses and beard! That is most likely because Reggie is unable to grow anything but a bunch of patches!
Hey Jack, wake up!

Jerrod is using this pic as his Facebook profile pic to get dates! He's a pro with babies ladies!

My Godmother
Earlier in the week, Laura went over to April's a couple of nights to assist her while Dave was out of town. Really, it was so April could actually get some sleep! Laura took Henry over on Wednesday night, and quickly found out that trying to handle two infants under the age of 1 is extremely difficult! Henry would just sit on the floor and melt down because Laura would be holding Jack. He's very protective/demanding of his mama's time, you know.

On Friday night, we all went out to the Well for a going away party for one of Reggie's ex-Ernst & Young co-workers. Henry spent the whole night flirting with all the girls, and actually stayed up (and in good spirits) until about 10. We took him home and put him to bed, afterwhich Laura and Eileen (neighbor across the street) sat out on the sunporch, drank wine, and talked about how great their husband's were.

On Saturday, we all headed down to Avenue's Bistro for a Kentucky Derby party. Henry was a little out of it, and seemed real tired. So, we ended up taking him to our friend Carrie's house to be watched by her parents (Carie was also at the party). The party was a blast, even though 1) None of our horses won, and 2) Reggie broke a toe while jumping over a fence in his flip flops. When we picked him up, they said he was feeling a little warm, and sure enough, he had a 101 fever! Luckily, it had broken by the end of the night, and he slept totally fine.

The family
Check out that hat! I don't know if Aunt Jen is going to the Derby or a Fiesta!
Developmentally, Henry is now pulling up on the coffee table and couch on his own, and is mastering the "plop," where he finally gets tired, so he just falls back on his butt in a seated position. He continues to army crawl all over the house, which prompted some quick "babyproofing" of the house! Also, it has shown us just how dirty our floors are! His crawling is a bit alarming, considering he would literally crawl/fall right off of the bed/couch/whatever if we let him. Hopefully he will realize soon that it is not a good idea to crawl off a ledge and fall to the floor without him actually having to experience it!
